Spain's criteria for new Endesa takeover bid may infringe EU law

Brussels, 06/07/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has unconditionally approved the acquisition of sole control through a public takeover bid for Endesa S.A., a Spanish energy company mainly active in the electricity sector, by ENEL S.p.A., based in Italy, and Acciona S.A., based in Spain, but the Spanish electricity watchdog has put various conditions on the deal (see Europe 9462).
