Mandelson recommends linking yuan to basket of world currencies

Brussels, 29/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - In an interview with France 24 on Friday, Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson called for the Chinese currency, the yuan, to be linked to a basket of world currencies including the euro. He said: “I would hope the Chinese currency could be attached to a basket of currencies, including the euro”. “I don't think China is playing deaf”, Mandelson continued, adding that policy change would be slow and potential advantages for the rest of the world...
