15/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - Erna Hennicot-Schoepges (EPP-ED, Luxembourg), rapporteur of an opinion on strengthened cooperation on the regulation establishing the European Technology Institute (ETI), visited Wroclaw in Poland on Friday 15 June following an invitation from the city's mayor, Rafal Dutziewicz. The city, which is the location of the Wroclaw University of Technology, wants to host the ETI. The meeting entitled 'The Polish response to the ETI initiative' looked at progress on the ETI at the European Parliament, reasons for having the ETI based in Poland, and the need for inter-regional cooperation. Wilfried Kraus, President of the German Presidency's ETI working group, and Jerzy Buzek MEP (EPP-ED, Poland), rapporteur for the EU's 7th Framework Programme for R&D, also attended the event. (gc)
