03/05/2007 (Agence Europe) - The Council of the French Val d'Oise region and the Department of the Environment from the Brussels Capital region are organising the first round table of “flyover” regions. The main regional and local actors from the European regions affected will meet up to discuss this theme. The meeting in Brussels, on 11 May 2007, aims to propose concrete solutions to the Commission for fighting noise pollution in areas close to airports. This will be done from an operational point of view (night flights and noise control units) and land management. Debates will take place in the context of amendments to the July 2002 (2002/49) directive on environmental noise assessment and management, as well as the directive on establishing rules on EU airport noise (2002/30).
