03/05/2007 (Agence Europe) - Diana Wallis (ALDE, United Kingdom), Gérard Onesta (Greens/EFA, France), Marc Tarabella (PES, Belgium), Alejo Vidal-Quadras (EPP/ED, Spain) and Dimitrios Papadimoulis (GUE, Greece) have submitted a written declaration on the European 112 emergency number. Aware that an efficient service would allow for a lot of suffering and loss of human life to be avoided, they are calling on member states and the Commission to improve implementation of this service. To this end, they want the Commission to get independent agencies to assess the current implementation of this service in Europe. (gc)
