Brussels, 16/04/2007 (Agence Europe) - According to data published by Eurostat on Monday, Euro area annual inflation was 1.9% in March 2007, up from 1.8% in February. A year earlier the rate was 2.2%. Monthly inflation was 0.7% in March 2007. The EU's annual inflation rate was 2.2% in March 2007, up from 2.1% in February. A year earlier the rate was 2.1%. Monthly inflation was 0.6% in March 2007. In March 2007, the lowest annual rates were observed in Malta (0.5%), France (1.2%) and Cyprus (1.4%), and the highest rates in Hungary (9.0%), Latvia (8.5%) and Estonia (5.6%). Compared with February, annual inflation rose in 15 member states, remained stable in six and fell in five. The lowest 12-month averages up to March 2007 were in Finland (1.3%), Poland (1.5%), the Netherlands and Sweden (1.6% each); the highest were in Latvia (6.7%), Bulgaria (6.5%) and Hungary (5.6%). (ol)
