03/04/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Medicines Agency has just published draft guidelines for clinical trials. These guidelines will include a strengthening in security measures during initial phase 1 trials, particularly for: more innovative medicines that have an effect on the immune system; those on which there is little information or those where animal models do not allow for accurate predictions of the pharmacological or toxicological effects in humans. This paper will be submitted for consultation on 23 May. It can be accessed on the EMA website: (http://www.emea.eu.int ).
