03/04/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has ended its investigation into the planned joint acquisition of SIG of Switzerland by CVC of Luxembourg and Ferd (the owner of Elopak of Norway). The plan was dropped following an unsuccessful public bid for SIG's shares, published on 29 March. The deal was notified to the Commission in November 2006. The Commission was concerned about potential lack of competition on the carton packaging market (see Europe 9335). (cd)
