Following record year of clamping down on cartels, Commission encourages private action in anti-trust enforcement

Brussels, 08/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes outlined the European Commission's future plans for clamping down on anti-competitive business behaviour on Thursday, at a conference organised by the International Bar Association. She unveiled measures currently being considered to give anti-cartel penalties greater bite, recommending that consumers and citizens play a more active role in combatting cartels in national courts.
