08/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - Finnish airline Finnair has joined British Airways in criticising the draft « Open Skies » agreement, concluded between the EU and the United States on 2 March, deeming that it catered far too much for American interests. “The deal would open routes between major European cities to US airlines, while keeping US internal flights inaccessible to European airlines,” Finnair said in a press release published on 7 March. According to Kari Koli, Finnair Vice President responsible for international relations, the agreement is unfair principally because of the restrictions on the acquisition of shares in US companies. Finnair stressed, however, that the agreement would have no effect on its operations. (aby)
