17/01/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 15 January, the German Presidency announced to Member States of the EU the cancellation of the February meeting (26-27 February) at the Agriculture-Fisheries Council. It took this decision due to the low number of dossiers to negotiate at this time of year. In effect, the Council is waiting for several recommendations from the European Parliament in order to be able to push forward certain dossiers (labelling on spirits, and on veal). For the same reasons, the Special Agriculture Committee (SAC) on 19 February was also cancelled. Cancellation of these meetings will allow for Community savings to made (particularly on interpretation costs). The next Agriculture Council will be on 29 January and the following on 19-20 March.
