10/01/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has launched two calls for proposals for micro-projects for democracy and human rights in Algeria. The aim is to encourage a human rights culture and to promote the democratic process. Each project should take account of women's and children's rights, says the Commission. Funding of between €50,000 and €100,000 will be granted to projects lasting between 12 and 36 months. Funding will come from the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) programme, which was initiated by the EU. The final date for submission of proposals is 24 March. (fb)
