Large reduction in Member States' contributions

Strasbourg, 18/12/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 13 December, the European Parliament adopted unchanged an amending budget reducing the amount Member States contributed to the 2006 budget by €7.373 billion. The excess comes from €2.667 billion in increased receipts and €4.706 billion in payment appropriations to be cancelled (particularly structural funds).
