Brussels, 30/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - Marina Gazzo has decided to retire from her post as Editor-in-Chief of Agence EUROPE. She will continue to contribute to the bulletin. Helmut Brüls, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, has been appointed as Ms Gazzo's successor.
Marina Gazzo has been part of the Agency's editorial staff since 1977, taking on the post of Editor-in-Chief in early 2001. She is therefore an essential part of the Agency's history, preserving the spirit of the Agency and contributing to enriching the content and influence - truly a charismatic figure in European journalism.
Helmut Brüls has been part of Agence EUROPE's editorial staff since 1992, and was appointed Deputy Editor-in-Chief in 2004. He will ensure the continuity of the spirit and the nature of our bulletin (that has only had three editors-in-chief since its foundation in 1952: Emanuele Gazzo, Ferdinando Riccardi and Marina Gazzo). He will also, however, leave the mark of his own personality on the bulletin as he safeguards its three fundamental principles: support for European construction, independence vis-à-vis the EU institutions (with “freedom to criticise” implicit), and the relentless desire to provide accurate information.
Olivier Jehin remains at his post as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Agence EUROPE and Editor-in-Chief of the publication, Atlantic News, that will soon be taking on a new form as a specialised publication focusing on CFSP and ESDP activity. (FR)
