EP calls on transitional government to guarantee free and fair elections in January 2007

Strasbourg, 17/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 16 November, the European Parliament adopted a resolution signed by all the political groups apart from Independence and Democracy, calling for the transitional government in Bangladesh, under President Iajuddin Ahmed to take immediate steps to reconstitute the Election Commission and ensure that the elections planned for January 2007 are free and fair.
