Support for better application of European legislation on transfer of dangerous waste seeks to avoid another Ivory Coast type disaster

Luxembourg, 23/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - The visit to Luxembourg by an Ivory Coast delegation for meetings with the Finnish presidency and the European Commission to discuss the Probo Koala and its cargo of deadly toxic waste, provided a certain tone to the debates at the Environment Council on the transfer of dangerous waste.

Invited to prepare the next meeting of Basle Convention signatories on the cross-border transfer of dangerous waste (COP 8, Nairobi, 27 November-1st December),...
