23/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - The President of the Commission, José Manuel Barroso, took part on Monday in a meeting in Budapest to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Hungarian revolution. “The revolution of 1956 was a revolution for liberty and democracy. These values are at the heart of the European Union. We can never take them for granted, because this will cause us danger”, he said. (hb)
