Brussels, 25/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - Members and staff of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament have taken their bikes to travel to Strasbourg for this week's plenary session. A press release says that the journey, which involves a number of stages by train, is part of the Greens' climate change and “sustainable mobility” campaign, launched during European Mobility Week (see EUROPE 9266). We want to encourage “a new integrated, environmentally friendly transport policy which involves changes to our behaviour,” says German Green MEP Michael Cramer, adding “Transport is by far the biggest source of the increase in greenhouse gases: cars and planes are most guilty”.
