20/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Union and the African Union (AU) held an aviation seminar in Brussels on 13-14 September. The event provided the opportunity to share information on the regulation and functioning of the EU internal aviation market, to address the major challenges for Africa (in terms of economic regulation, safety and security standards, technological and infrastructure investments) and to discuss cooperative projects in a number of areas (security, safety and air traffic management). The African participants agreed to develop the aviation partnership with the EU further, primarily to bring existing bilateral air service agreements between EU Member States and the African States concerned into legal conformity.
