Brussels, 19/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - In July 2006, industrial production was down 0.4% in the eurozone and 0.2% in the EU25 compared to the previous month when it remained stable in both areas. At an annual rate, industrial production increased by 3.2% not only in the eurozone but also in the EU25. Compared to June 2006, energy production increased by 1.1% in the eurozone and by 0.9% in the EU25. On a country-by-country basis, industrial production was up in thirteen Member States, down in seven and remained stable in one, Poland. The largest rises were recorded in Luxembourg (+8.5%), Ireland (+5.0%), Denmark (+2.4%) and Slovenia (+2.0%) while the biggest falls were recorded in Portugal (-5.5%), Lithuania (-3.5%), France (-1.3%) and Greece (-1.0%). Compared to June 2005, the production of intermediary goods was up 4.9% in both the eurozone and the EU25. Capital goods were up 3.8% and 4.4% in these areas respectively, durable consumer goods 3.3% and 4.7%, and energy production 2.4% and 0.6%). In one year, industrial production increased in nineteen Member States and fell in Sweden (-0.9%) and Italy (-0.2%) only.
