Brussels, 19/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Liberal Democrat and Reform (ELDR) Party, led by MEP Annemie Neyts, is holding its annual congress in Bucharest on 12-13 October to mark “its commitment to spreading prosperity, democracy and individual freedoms across Europe”, says a press release. Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Taricenau, who is ELDR Party vice-president, says in the same press release that, once in the EU, Romania “will fight with the same energy and commitment for liberal values to develop the European project”. Under the heading “Working together for a secure and free Europe” the Bucharest congress will adopt party policy for the years to come, says the press release. Key speakers will include Romanian foreign minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu, Bulgarian European affairs minister Meglena Kuneva, EU anti-terrorism coordinator Gijs de Vries, leader of the ALDE group in the European Parliament Graham Watson and president of the Europe-an Movement Pat Cox.
