Commission to ban 22 hair dye substances from 1st December 2006 if industrialists cannot prove their harmlessness

Brussels, 20/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - Twenty two chemical substances used in hair dyes will be banned in the EU unless industrialists can bring scientific proof that they are safe for human health.

This was the decision of the European Commission on 20 July. The Commission is convinced of the need to protect consumers' health against potentially carcinogenic substances, and to place the burden of proof on the industry that the substances are not harmful to human health. A great deal is at...
