In the USA WPS RESOURCES has acquired PEOPLES ENERGY for $1.52 bn paid in shares. The new entity from this merger will have assets worth $9.2 bn. WPS shareholders will control 57.6% of the new firm and PEOPLES ENERGY the remaining 42.4%.
