27/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 27 June, the EU Political and Security Committee (COPS) appointed German Rear Admiral Hans-Jochen Witthauer to the post of commander for the EU-led force in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Operation Althea, as of 6 December this year. Witthauer is to replace the general of the Italian division, Gian Marco Chiarini, who succeeded British Major General David Leakey.
