PES conference on structural funds and EU Cohesion Policy attended by Jacques Delors

Brussels, 22/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament's Socialist Group is holding a conference in Brussels on 28 and 29 June on 'Reforming Structural Funds: Modern Cohesion Policy'. The conference will be opened by the President of the Socialist group, Martin Schulz, and former president of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, will make a keynote speech on modern Cohesion Policy as a European value-added. Regional Policy Commissioner Danuta Hubner will then outline the new EU cohesion strategy for 2007-2013. The two-hundred or so participants include Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, President of the Party of European Socialists, Sir Albert Bore, Vice-President of the Committee of the Regions, Graham Meadows, Director General of DG Regio at the European Commission, Johannes Rossbacher of the Austrian Presidency of the EU, and Antti Valle of the upcoming Finnish Presidency of the EU.
