Russia takes up chairmanship of Council of Europe for six months, moving "Towards United Europe without dividing lines"

Strasbourg, 22/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 19 May, the Russian Federation took over from Romania at the helm of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, an organisation with 46 member states. At a ceremony marking the occasion, the Russian Foreign Affairs Minister, Sergey Lavrov, presented the priorities of the new chairmanship, which has given rise to a certain amount of concern.
