Commission suggests Slovenia should adopt euro in 2007 but rejects Lithuania's candidature as its inflation is too high

Strasbourg, 16/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission and the European Central Bank (ECB) have made their decision. On the basis of the assessment of compliance with convergence criteria, Slovenia will be allowed to adopt single currency from 1 January 2007, whereas Lithuania failed the test for not having an inflation rate in line with the authorised maximum.
