Brussels, 08/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has approved the proposed acquisition of Hyparlo by French group Carrefour. Both firms are active in principally food distribution, with Carrefour active in 28 countries through its hypermarkets, supermarkets and local stores. Within the terms of franchise contracts concluded with Carrefour, Hyparlo manages 16 hypermarkets, 12 of which are in France and 4 in Romania. It is not expected to result in any difficulties for the French market, said the Commission, analysing mainly the retail and supply markets. Hyperlo may be considered as part of the Carrefour group and already obtain virtually all of its supplies from Carrefour central purchasing units
