In France, BOUYGUES (turnover of EUR 24.073 bn in 2005 and a workforce of 115,400 in 80 countries) is buying the French government's 21% stake in ALSTOM (turnover of EUR 11.5 bn in 2004-2005 with a workforce of 60,000 in 70 countries) for EUR 1.98 bn (or EUR 68.21 a share). This is a strategy move for BOUYGUES investing in two new business areas, rail and energy, along with the media, telephony and construction.
