Commission to propose new European consulates in May - Ministers in favour of harmonisation of Asylum practices

Luxembourg, 28/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is to make a proposal at the end of May for the establishment of "European consulates" in third countries, according to an announcement by Commissioner Franco Frattini. "I plan to propose the establishment of joint consular centres in third States, where it will be possible to process asylum applications", said Mr Frattini on 27 April, at the JHA Council in Luxembourg.
