27/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - “Plan D” for dialogue, debate and democracy was discussed on 11 March at the Maison de l'Europe in Paris by around forty young people aged between 16-25 coming from a range of different backgrounds (notably, the Erasmus, Leonardo and Youth programmes, youngsters from Paris, including the estates and rural areas). According to a press release, these youngsters highlighted “the unique principle of unity in diversity”, or “Union and Exchange”. Despite the wide diversity of participants, some important points were agreed on, explained the press release: that Europe should be considered as a community of values and “the passage from a Judeo-Christian Europe should be successfully transformed into a Europe of secular solidarity”; train teachers and all intermediaries (social leaders) and provide adapted educational programmes; “foster direct contact and personal experience that internet, TV and other media cannot replace; enhance mobility programmes and use youth testimonies.
