Gilde gets go-ahead to buy Heiploeg

Brussels, 01/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the acquisition of the Dutch company Heiploeg Beheer by Gilde Buy-Out Management Holding. Gilde is a private investor based in the Netherlands and which specialises in buying companies out. Heiploeg is active in the production, processing and sales of prawns. The Commission noted that until now, Heiploeg did not control any companies with a specialism in this sector. Nonetheless, a problem could have arisen in that Gilde controls Inversco, a distributor of various food products (including prawns) in the Netherlands, and would have been able to favour Heiploeg as a supplier. The quantity of prawns distributed by Inversco is, however, to learn, and there are enough competitors in order to avoid any genuine competition problems.
