Brussels, 27/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - According to The Herald Tribune, in the context of the dispute between the European aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, and American Boeing, and henceforth in the hands of the WTO arbiters, the European Union has filed a further complaint in Geneva accusing the United States of hampering its efforts to gather data on State aid and US federal subsidies to Boeing. Community sources say this is only a technical problem and a procedural matter. Washington is hindering the handing over of documents that the Commission needs to flesh out the dossier on American aid to Boeing in the context of the panel set up at the WTO last July. The WTO had requested that Brussels and Washington agree before the panel begins arbitration on the mutual provision of data concerning the mutual provision of data on aid and subsidies that the Union and the United States pay to their aircraft manufacturers.
