29/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Central Bank (ECB) has published a collection of contributions made on 27 April 2005 at a conference on 'The Eurosystem, the Union and Beyond - The single currency and implications for governance', which was held in honour of Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, former member of the ECB Executive Board. The welcome address was by ECB President, Jean-Claude Trichet. Other participants included ECB Vice-President Lucas Papademos; the President of the European Monetary Institute that preceded the ECB, Alexander Lamfalussy; former European Commissioner Mario Monti; former German MP Karl Lamers (who, together with Wolfgang Schauble, mooted the idea of a 'hard core' of states in Europe)' and former German treasury minister Hans Tietmeyer.
