RDC must be helped with elections to guarantee peace in Great Lakes region, say ALDE MEPs

Brussels, 09/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - The end of the war in the Great Lakes region since 1999 is only illusory, stated Graham Watson, President of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe group (ALDE) at a hearing on Wednesday on the hopes for lasting peace in the region. At the end of October, an ALDE delegation visited the Democratic Republic of Congo to support the electoral process there, with the Congolese people voting on a new constitution on 18 December, ahead of elections...
