BANCA INTESA has ceded 80% of the Peruvian bank BWS-BANCO WIESE SUDAMERIS to SCOTIABANK of Canada. The Canadian bank has also acquired a majority shareholding in BANCO SUDAMERICANO, 35% of which it currently owns. SCOTIABANK, which will have spent 390 million Canadian dollars on these deals, will combine the acquired operations within a new organisation, which will become Peru's third largest bank with a market share of 18%.
