21/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - With the first secretary of the French Socialist Party (PS), François Hollande, stating on Sunday that the European constitutional treaty in its current form is "dead", the spokesperson of the European Commission, speaking to the press on Monday, said that "conclusions will be drawn at the end of the reflection on plan D". The spokesperson went on to state that the Commission remains committed to the Constitution and that "although some people have problems with the text, the majority of Member States have already ratified it". Meeting for a congress in Le Mans last weekend, the PS adopted resolutions in which, in particular, it calls for a "new constitutional text which is shorter and centred on the institutions and values of the Union".
