Brussels, 18/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - In Reims, France, on 25 November, the European Christians Association is organising a conference on managing nuclear waste, where its President, Claude Fischer, will point out that an urgent choice has to be made about how to manage nuclear waste in France in particular, no matter what energy policy is decided for the future (with or without nuclear power) because nuclear waste already exists and has to be managed. Participants will be briefed about experience in Europe and Canada and will discus the way decisions are taken and the local impact of nuclear waste management R&D. Francois Lamoureux, Director General for Energy and Transport at the European Commission will attend the conference, and the closing speech will be made by Philippe Herzog, President of Confrontations Europe, which will be publishing a 24-page newsletter on the subject in its 'Les entretiens europeens' series.
