Conferences on research and innovation

Brussels, 30/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - Many seminars and other activities concerning European research are to succeed each other in coming weeks. To give a sample, there will be:

- from 11 to 20 October in the Upper Rhine region, the BioValley Life Sciences Week 2005, which has many partners (universities, research centres, industry, etc.) with the support of the Interreg IIIa initiative. The programme includes many different activities held successively in Strasbourg, Colmar, Mulhouse, Basel, Freiburg, Lörrach and Offenburg. Information: http://www.biovalley.com

- on 20 October at the Senate in Paris, “La recherche au pied du mur: saurons-nous saisir notre chance?” Many well-known scientific and political figures will take part in the debates on the future of French research. Christian Patermann of DG Research at the European Commission will attend a round table on biotechnology. Information: http://www.prospective.org

- on 23 and 24 October, in Cambridge, Building competitive edge through EU Research: What's in it for high-tech SMEs? Organised by the British EU Presidency and the European Commission, the conference will give concrete examples of how SMEs have been able to benefit from the 6th framework programme for high-tech innovation, envisaging what the future will be like with the next framework programme. - from 16 to 20 November, in Brussels, The Innovation Summit will allow the public and professionals to discover the original prototypes of new inventions and technologies. Information: http://www.brussels-eureka.be
