Barroso calls for cooperation

Brussels, 26/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - José Manuel Barroso has offered the European Parliament for close cooperation in providing a contribution to the reflection period following the French no votes on the European constitution. In a letter addressed to president Borrell, the European Commission president say that he is ready to work hand-in-hand with the European Parliament in an effort to implement Plan D for democracy, dialogue and debate and he is firmly convinced of the key role of Parliament, which represented citizens, had to play. Barroso announced in a press release that he would be informing the Conference of presidents of the political groups of the EP on the seminar of the Commission on 20 September about his initiative (EUROPE 9032). The Commission president explained that with vice president Margot Wallström, he would be providing more details about “Plan D” including the concrete actions to be launched on “ actively listening to citizens”.
