23/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - The prize-winners of the 17th EU Contest for Young Scientists were announced on 21 September at a ceremony in Moscow. The prizes, worth a total of EUR 28,500, were presented by Achilleas Mitsos, the European Commission's Director-General for Research, together with Alexander Fursenko, Russian education and science minister. This year's first prize-winners, 16 to 20 years old, come from Germany, Spain and Switzerland. New year's competition will be organised in Stockholm under the aegis of the Swedish Young Scientists Federation in cooperation with the Swedish Research Council and the Royal Swedish Academy of Science.
