ABN AMRO to take control of Antonveneta - Charlie McCreevy on visit to Italy again

Brussels, 15/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - Reports in the Italian press announce that the managing board of the Italian bank, Banca Popolare Italiana (BPI), has approved the sale of the 24.9% stake that the bank holds in Antonveneta to the Dutch bank, ABN Amro. ABN Amro will thus control nearly 60% of the Antonveneta capital and will make an offer for the remaining shares.
