02/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - Dutch farm minister Cees Veerman made a statement to the lower house of the Dutch parliament on Thursday about his farm in France, which he should have relinquished under government ethics rules (see EUROPE 9017). Veerman has admitted acting imprudently by signing documents on the management of the company Douce-France, which manages his property in the Dordogne (south-east France). The Dutch Social Democratic party PvDA and the Greens, GroenLinks, have called for the Court of Auditors to investigate. The case arose after a British association published a report listing politicians receiving aid from the Common Agricultural Policy. Veerman's companies received EUR 190,000 in aid in 2004.
