MEPs ask Togo to ensure greater respect of human rights and freedoms

Brussels, 02/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - Several members of the European Parliament's Development Committee expressed concern on 29 August about lack of progress in Togo in ensuring respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms. The topics discussed between MEPs and representatives of the new Togolese government, parts o he opposition and NGOs revealed that the EP's resolution of 12 May 2005 is still relevant (see Europe 8947).
