30/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - An article in Italian newspaper La Reppublica of 30 August indicates that the Italian transport minister Pietro Lunardi, who was initially hostile to the idea of a blacklist of dodgy airlines, may now agree to the idea, following France and Belgium's example. The blacklist published on the French Direction Generale de l'aviation civile's website on Monday lists five airlines - Air Saint-Thomas (USA), Air Koryo (Norht Korea), Phuket Airlines (Thailand), International Air Service (Liberia) and Lineas Aer del Mozambico (Mozambique). Belgium has published a blacklist of freight airlines, ten African, one Ukrainian and one Armenian. In Germany, a spokesperson said on Monday that the government would prefer a transparent European list to individual national lists (see EUROPE 9014).)
