17/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - On 14 August, and again on 16 August, Transport Commissioner Jacques Barrot regretted the loss of life in two plane accidents, first a Cypriot plane near Athens, and then a Colombian plane with French passengers from Martinique that crashed in Venezuela. The accidents show that there has to be a collective doubling of efforts to ensure the highest level of air safety, he said, adding that the Commission would ensure all existing measures were implemented, including safety measures for flights from non-EU airlines to and from the EU.
