Brussels, 17/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed United Launch Alliance (“ULA”) joint venture between the US Defence and Space contractors Lockheed Martin and Boeing. Parity will exist between the two companies in ULA and which will combine the production, engineering, test and launch operations associated with U.S. government launches of Boeing's Delta and Lockheed's Atlas rockets. The Commission pointed out that ULA is exclusively intended to serve the US government market for launch services and therefore does not have a direct impact on customers in the EEA. The Commission also concluded that ULA does not increase the risk of coordinated behaviour although ULA will supply launchers to its parent companies.
