05/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - After the intervention by European Ombudsman Nikiforos Diamandouros, the European Commission agreed to reduce from EUR 14 025 to EUR 6 036 the amount that it was requesting for repayment from an organisation located in France. The organisation in question - le Réseau européen d'action sociale - had received a subsidy of EUR 46 950 for the organisation of a social forum entitled “Europe is what we make it: together for better governance”, but had not provided all the supporting documents requested of it by the Commission. At the request of the Ombudsman, the Commission agreed to take the conclusive evidence into account and to reduce the amount of the repayment.
