Member States improve transposition rates but have difficulty bringing down number of infringements

Brussels, 18/07/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, the Commission welcomed the results of the six-monthly scoreboard on the internal market. The overall transposition deficit - which is equal to the average percentage of European directives in force but not transposed into national law - has fallen considerably since June 2004 from 7.1% to 1.9%.
