04/07/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has given its blessing to plans for the German company Edelstahlwerke Buderus to be taken over by the Austrian company Böhler-Uddeholm. Both companies are present in the sector of specialist steels, Böhler-Uddeholm owning production sites in Austria, Sweden and Brazil and Edelstahlwerke Buderus in Germany and France. The horizontal overlaps between the two companies will not significantly hinder competition on the market of the production of steel for tools and in the distribution of specialist steel, where the companies have relatively low market shares, the Commission concluded.
